Neither the PBS Engineer (PEMB) nor the Mountain View Engineer (foundation) claim to be engineer of record. The engineer of record, ideally, should provide the statement of special inspections. Please see the Structural Engineers Association of Oregon for insight with how to write a statement of special inspections. Minimally, special inspections are required for the field bolting of high strength bolts provided by PBS. Even though PBS may be an approved fabricator, they still can't extend this approval to on-site construction. |
